ARTIST TALK

12pm Fri 6 September

A conversation between the artists Nuno Rodrigues de Sousa and David Keating will take place in the exhibition High Rise Terminal at the Australian Institute of Architects.

The exhibition High Rise Terminal comprises three new works by Portuguese-Australian artist Nuno Rodrigues de Sousa: a wall painting L’unité Fermée (the closed unit), a video High Rising Blues and an installation Nach Oben (upward).

The video represents a montage of the Blues Point Tower, a Harry Seidler building that forms the central reference for the exhibition. The wall painting and the installation are conceived as a structural dialogue between opposing forms and ideas. Representations of a project by Le Corbusier and a Josef Albers painting also appear in this show as ghostly figures of a lost age of modernity, when architecture in the service of society doubled as a tool to shape it.
